The Uninvited

(2009) Directed by the Guard Brothers. Anna (Emily Browning) has spent a year in a psychiatric ward after her mother's death. Struggling to cope and remember the details of the tragic incident. After being released into the care of her father, Steven (David Strathairn), Anna comes home and is reunited with her sister, Alex (Arielle Kebbel). But also at their home is David's new girlfriend, Rachel (Elizabeth Banks), a younger woman who Anna immediately dislikes. Beyond being a younger woman in the place of her late mother, Anna is convinced that Rachel is hiding something and suspects it may have to do with the night of her mother's death. As Anna and Alex struggle to uncover the mystery of what happened the night of their mother's death, and whether Rachel has a role in it, their suspicions increase tension in the home and force a confrontation with Rachel and David.
